Hello, everybody, it’s been a while. We hope you’re ready to follow the clues, solve the puzzles, and save the world, because ObieGame is back! Gather a team of friends, foes, and/or strangers, and get ready to investigate some mysteries.
“Can I play?” If you’re a currently registered Oberlin student (enrolled, abroad, or on leave), then yes. Otherwise, no.
“Where do I register?” You can register over on registration-dot-obiegame-dot-com before 11:59pm on April 1st. Register on your own as a one-player team, or gather a team of up to 10 people. As the saying goes, “More heads can be better than one.”
“I don’t have a team!” You can play by yourself, or you can indicate that you’d like to be connected with other solo-searchers.
“What’s it like this semester?” Like the last few years, this game will be in-person and have no eliminations. Starting on April 5th, there will be two weeks of events, puzzles, and intrigue. Every team will be able to experience the main story regardless of how many puzzles they complete. However, the more puzzles you complete, the more story you’ll experience and lore you’ll learn. The teams who complete the most puzzles will earn bragging rights and win this year’s game.
“What COVID protocols are there?” Regardless of Oberlin’s current policies, we ask that all players remain masked during indoor events to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“Will there be a player Discord server like last year?” Yes. Like last year, this game will feature an official (but optional) player Discord server for players to hang out, make friends, discuss the game, and share theories, memes, and more. We will also have game characters present in the server for players to interact with! You’ll both be able to discuss the game out-of-character and ask your new witch friend about their flying spells.
If you have any questions, reach out to us at obiegame-at-gmail-dot-com. We cannot help you with any rituals gone wrong, but we will do our best with any other requests.
XOXO,
ObieGame (will never die)
