it’s time

The winds of spring wave their way through Oberlin, the sun forges its way northward in the sky, and the trees begin to bloom once more. This means it’s time to venture on quests and solve mysteries. ObieGame has returned, so gather a team of friends, foes, or fae (be they clever or charming) and join the journey.

“Can I play?” If you’re a currently registered Oberlin student (enrolled, abroad, or on leave), then yes. Otherwise, no.

“Where do I register?” You can register over on registration-dot-obiegame-dot-com before 11:59pm on April 7th. Register on your own as a one-player team, or gather a team of up to 10 people. As the saying goes, “More heads can be better than one.”

“What’s it like this semester?” Like last spring, this game will be in-person and have no eliminations. Starting on April 14th, there will be two weeks of events, puzzles, and intrigue. Every team will be able to experience the main story regardless of how many puzzles they complete. However, the more puzzles you complete, the more story you’ll experience and lore you’ll learn. The teams who complete the most puzzles will earn bragging rights and win this year’s game (as well as mystery rewards).

“What COVID protocols are there?” In addition to adhering to ObieSafe guidelines, we ask that all players remain masked during indoor events to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. If COVID recommendations change before or during the game, we will update players on guidelines for events.

“Will there be a player Discord server like last year?” Yes, with a little extra flair. This year will feature an official (but optional) player Discord server for players to hang out, make friends, discuss the game, and share theories, memes, and more. Unlike last year, however, we will also have game characters present in the server for players to interact with! You’ll both be able to discuss the game out-of-character and ask that cool game show host about their favorite musician.

If you have any questions, reach out to us at obiegame-at-gmail-dot-com. We cannot help you exact revenge on the fae who your great-great-grandmother ran away with, but we will do our best with any other requests.

XOXO,

Obiegame (will never die) 🙂
